The Same 7 Steps on Every Turnover

Our 7-Step Vacation Rental Cleaning Process

One Process for Every Property

Every guest departure clean The Dream Clean Team completes follows the same 7-step process, whether it is a junior suite at a Destin resort, a Gulf-front condo on Okaloosa Island, or a five-bedroom house in Panama City Beach. The steps always run in the same order, every Cleaning Pro is trained on them the same way, and each one has a clear job, so the result does not depend on which person is on the schedule that day.

That consistency is what lets us clean one property or fifty with the same standard. Once a team learns the rhythm of the process, they move through a property efficiently without skipping the details guests notice, like the sand under the couch, the extra blanket in the closet, or the hand towel that was never restocked.

What the 7-Step Process Gives Owners

The 7 Steps at a Glance

  • Step 1Arrival and check-in
  • Step 2Prepare the property
  • Step 3Make the beds
  • Step 4Clean the property
  • Step 5Stage and restock
  • Step 6Floor protocol
  • Step 7Exit and lock up

Each Step, and Why It Matters

Step 1: Arrival and Check-In

When a Cleaning Pro arrives, they check in on our system, which time-stamps the start of the clean so you and our office can see exactly when work began. Before touching anything, they review your property’s special requirements and its standard setup, including any notes about how you want the unit presented, so every clean starts from your instructions instead of a guess.

Step 2: Prepare the Property

The first walk through the property starts at the front door and follows the wall all the way around. The pro starts the dishwasher, strips every bed, collects used towels, pulls out any sleeper sofa, and checks under furniture and inside drawers for trash or items guests left behind. Missing linens and damage get reported right away, while there is still time to fix them before the next check-in.

Step 3: Make the Beds

Every bed in the property is changed, including beds that do not look slept in, using fresh linens from our commercial laundry. Beds are made the same way every time, and each finished bed is photographed so there is a record of how the property was left.

Step 4: Clean the Property

Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living areas are cleaned in the same order on every turnover, from dusting ceiling fans and fixtures down to wiping counters, cleaning mirrors, scrubbing tubs and showers, and cleaning under beds. Following the same path through every room is what keeps the clean thorough when the schedule gets busy.

Step 5: Stage and Restock

Toilet paper, paper towels, soaps, toiletries, and trash bags are restocked, inventory is counted, and towels and linens are staged to the property’s standard so the next guest walks into the same setup the last one did. You can read more about this step on our amenities and restocking page.

Step 6: Floor Protocol

Floors are the most common cleanliness complaint at beach properties, so they get their own step. The pro sweeps the entire property, vacuums, and sweeps again, then does a barefoot walk test through every room with hard floors. If they feel any sand or grit, that area gets cleaned again before the floors are mopped.

Step 7: Exit and Lock Up

Before leaving, the pro confirms every special requirement was completed, locks the sliding doors and entry doors, and checks out on our system so the team knows the property is ready. Used linens go back to our laundry facility, and an inspector follows up with a photo-verified inspection before check-in.

Why a Process Beats a Fast Clean

A fast clean can look fine at a glance and still miss the things that show up in reviews, like hair in a shower drain, a missing bath mat, or sand in the corner of a bedroom. A process solves that because it does not rely on memory or on how rushed the day is. Each step has a job, the order stays the same, and every pro knows what done looks like before they start.

A Standard That Scales With Your Portfolio

It does not matter which property we are cleaning or how many we clean in a day. Because every Cleaning Pro learns the same 7 steps, a new property gets the same standard on its first turnover that a long-time client’s units get on their hundredth, and adding more units does not mean adding more variation. The process ties directly into the rest of our service, from fresh linens out of our commercial laundry to restocking and inspections, so the whole turnover works the same way every time.

7-Step Cleaning Process Questions

What is The Dream Clean Team's 7-step cleaning process?

It is the process every Cleaning Pro follows on every guest departure clean: arrival and check-in, preparing the property, making the beds, cleaning the property, staging and restocking, the floor protocol, and exit and lock up. The steps always run in the same order so results stay consistent.

Yes. Every guest departure clean follows the same 7 steps, whether it is a studio condo or a large beach house, and whether you have one property with us or fifty.

Each pass through the property starts at the front door and follows the wall around every room. A pro moves through the property at least four times this way during a clean, which keeps them from skipping rooms, corners, closets, or drawers.

After sweeping and vacuuming, the Cleaning Pro takes off their shoes and walks every room with hard floors to feel for sand, grit, or hair. Anything they feel gets cleaned again before the floors are mopped, because guests at the beach notice floors first.

Check-in and check-out on our system time-stamp each clean, finished beds are photographed, and an inspector checks the property and uploads time-stamped photos before your next guest arrives.

The 7 steps stay the same for every property. Your special requirements and setup notes are reviewed in the first step and confirmed in the last one, so the process adapts to your property without losing its consistency.

Yes. Beds are made with fresh linens from our commercial laundry in step 3, and supplies are restocked and inventory is counted in step 5, so both are handled on every turnover.
