Correcting Four Cleaning Hacks That Do More Harm Than Good

Cleaning our homes is a task that we must regularly do. Whether we need to wash the dishes, wipe the tables, mow our lawns, cleaning will take a chunk of our time. Many people schedule time every day to clean their homes. However, there are days when you might feel like the chores around you never end.

It’s important to keep your home organized and germ-free, but it takes an awful amount of time. Is there a way to make it easier without breaking your back and taking so much of your time? Luckily, there are many products and cleaning tools that you can use to make your life easier.

There are many hacks too on the Internet. But, some of them are flat-out dangerous! We corrected four cleaning hacks, so you won’t make the same mistake again.

Ditch the Hairspray and Use Alcohol to Remove Ink on Clothes

Did you accidentally spill ink on your favorite shirt? If you did, then you probably scrubbed and scrubbed to no avail. Unfortunately, scrubbing and washing your shirt isn’t enough. It may also tear the fabric, which can wear it down.

The old but good trick on this is to use hairspray and rub it on the area. This trick used to work before because hairspray used to contain 100 percent alcohol. However, this isn’t the case today. Hairsprays manufactured in our time contain less alcohol, so ditch the hairspray and use isopropyl alcohol instead.

Adding Extra Detergent Won’t Make Your Laundry Extra Cleaner.

A lot of people believe that adding more detergent and cleaners will make clothes cleaner. Truthfully, it will be harder for them to rinse away the residue, which will entail additional cleaning time cleaning. If you also don’t properly remove the residue, it will attract dirt and residue, which can make your clothes look dull and old. Instead of adding more detergent, why not just use a good cleaning product that does the job.

Don’t Sanitize the Sponges in the Microwave.

While sanitizing your items under high heat can kill some bacteria, it doesn’t mean it will totally kill all the nasty germs. Research shows that the remaining bacteria in your sponge will recolonize and may become stronger than before. Instead of heating them inside the microwave, use disposable cotton, wipes, or microfiber cloths that you can easily clean after every use.

You might have probably thought of just increasing the temperature to kill all the bacteria. Doing so will incinerate your sponge. So, opt for an easy and washable cloth.

Don’t Use Coca-Cola to Clean Your Toilet.

A lot of people may have advertised online that Coca-Cola or any carbonated drink can clean your toilet. The truth is, it won’t. Yes, it may contain phosphoric and citric acids that help remove rusts and stains, but it won’t kill the bacteria residing in your toilet.

In fact, carbonated drinks leave sticky residue stains that invite bacteria to grow in your toilet. Stick with toilet cleaners instead. They get the job done, and they’re more affordable than buying liters of drinks that you have no intention of drinking.

Conclusion

There are numerous hacks on the Internet that you can use to clean your home. However, you need to analyze and pick the ones that can truly help you rather than add more bacteria to the home. Take note of these common hacks we corrected and stick with cleaning supplies that truly work.
